HQ Thoughts: "The scope of this film was beyond what I expected going into it. It is a commentary filled documentary with extremely compelling facts (and visuals) to back up it's initial question: "Does Snuff Films exist?" Who knew a documentary could be so damn frightening, considering that this stuff isn't a "movie" per se.
 
After a little over an hour of details, recounts, and video clips of viral death including, but not limited to; visual of war, snuff porn, animal cruelty, along with several other atrocities, this film goes as far as making the watcher wonder what compels the human species to indulge in such a horrific yet seemingly fascinating culture. Could it be considered a 'subconscious addiction to depravity?'
 
What makes a person commit and more disgustingly ENJOY the acts just committed. I was left with a tons of thoughts and knew this had to be featured on my blog! If you want something REAL... Take a peek!"

HQ Thoughts: "I want to believe that this could have been a better movie. I enjoyed the premise but execution wasn't great. A few friends traveled far and wide to get a hold of some special mushrooms for a trip they might not remember. 

Campfire tales are shared of an old religious sect that used to torture children and it all went downhill from there. After eating a bad shroom, Tara starts to encounter bad hallucinations of all of her friends getting killed by these horrible figures. 

For whatever it's worth, everyone gets knocked off some way or another and it gets super confusing until the very end- the "Aha!" moment. 

Not the greatest but able to get through it. You can appreciate this original from 2007 (7 yrs ago) and I'm sure someone has done it better since. I'll find it."

HQ Thoughts: "It's been a while and what a way to reignite the horror?! Alyce is one screwed up chick who made a big mistake and was never able to come back from it. 

As the trailer mentions, Alyce accidentally knocked Carroll off the roof and walked away without helping. Since then, she puts herself in some of the most sadistic situations where it involves violence, sex and plenty of drugs, nothing helps the guilt she is dealing with.

It is not until she attends Carroll's funeral that she absolutely loses it and goes on a hell of a rampage. Can we say MONOTONE though? She has no feeling, she doesn't care, it's over. I'm SO MESSED UP AFTER WATCHING THIS!

Some horror films are meant to be fun, some are even considered family friendly- a good ol' time. This film is not even close. Enjoy and take a deep breath after. "

HQ Thoughts: "I love remakes that goes further than the previous film attempted. 1980's Maniac original was a gore fest, as it should have been- it was the time when gore was on the come up. The story line was irrelevant to the idea of someones' head getting blown off.

In this rendition, Frank meets Anna and the concept remains the same (he is enamored, starts to flashback about skanky mom and goes off the deep end eventually) but here you get an in depth look from his perspective. No really, it's like looking through his eyes for the majority of the film.

Premise doesn't change, he scalps women as an homage paid to a slutty mother and the inability to love, but this is so much more endearing that you somewhat feel really bad for Frank. 

The film wasn't as horrible as some made it out to seem, this film is banned for release in New Zealand. I think it's a great watch, great perspective as mentioned before and needless to say, Mr. Wood did an awesome job here."

HQ Thoughts: "Finally, some original works that focuses on a topic that is otherwise quietly discussed. Body modifications and the extremism of self-mutilation for pleasure & beauty purposes. What a treat!

Mary Mason is a med student who is in debt and desperate times who turns to some unconventional measures in order to make some extra money. She meets a woman named Beatrice who in turn, introduces her to another woman interested in creating a masterpiece of herself... And it all goes down from there.

Body modification ends up paying extremely well and after enduring a brutal attack, she decides on some payback. Ultimately Mary is pushed into a world that eventually costs her more than medical school could have ever.

Some very interesting characters here, loosely written but entertaining for what it's worth. I enjoyed the idea of body modification being used as a premise of this film however, it could have been a lot more informative. Not a bad watch!"

HQ Thoughts: "How cool?! A film involving my overall fave concept- The Anthology! 5 short stories wrapped in one with a creepy overtone that will most likely make you watch with the lights on. I didn't because it was day time... But anyways! (lol) Yet again, this is another film with found footage which can be a hit or miss with many titles to name. 

I think the idea of having young bandits running around trying to make a quick buck get their paybacks doing something that they apparently love- being violent, is a great touch however, the movies have nothing to do with the big picture...

The videos are clearly disturbing and so sketchy that you really start to feel like you're watching a few horrible home movies... Even though the overall idea wasn't completely clear at the end for me, I must say that I enjoyed this to say the least and I hear that there is that sequel. :)"

HQ Thoughts: "This film is an extension of a short film that was originally featured as part of Three Extremes of the same name, where Mrs. Li meets Aunt Mei, a (very old- so she says) woman that was able to offer her a life rejuvenating recipe that should help her gain the interest of her husband again. 

Things are not living up to Mrs. Li's expectations and she requests more potent ingredients. This is when the film gets a bit unsavory. It's not until complications arise from an obvious BAD batch of dumplings and she realizes that she needs to be more consistent with the food and what happens after Ant Mei cuts her off, makes you wonder about the need for women to 'keep' their man at any cost.

Mrs. Li reaches her boiling point and goes to whatever length she needs to in order to keep up her new regimen. The twists in this film doesn't top the nasty taste it leaves in your mouth when the film is over. Let's just say; OMG, that was something ELSE!"

HQ Thoughts: "What a ride! 26 short stories in 2 hours... How can this be done? Well, give or take 5-8 minutes per story and voila! We have a compilation of some of the sickest shit I think I have ever come across in one sitting.

The concept stresses creativity by giving 26 different directors each a letter of the alphabet and they were responsible for creating a work of death relating to that word. Film ADHD for sure.

The film starts out A is for Apocalypse which caught my attention immediately with it's quirkiness. L is Libido and X is for XXL... MY GOODNESS! I could go on with the others like F is for Fart (just. watch. it) and P is for Pressure, which touches on some underground sexual experiences that I don't think the average (and mentally sound) person would even be aware of. 

Clearly, there are SEVERAL others that will nonetheless get you excited with fear or simply make you laugh out loud. This movie hits every nook and cranny of the senses and I can't for the life of me even understand how the ratings are considerably low for this work of art. I begged for something to make me go wow and this was it! I could watch it a million times and I think I will."

HQ Thoughts: "Beware, this post may include a lot of expletives with the first of many being- WHAT THE FUCK!?

I knew what Takashi Miike was capable of because I have posted one of his many classics before (see: Ichi The Killer) but WOW I never thought that he would go to the extreme as to find every possible deviant dysfunction that could occur in a family and tie it into this explosive directive.

Extreme in the sense of a little necro, drug usage, murder, incest, etc, etc.... It's ACTUALLY considered a very, very dark comedy. (And yes, you will laugh!) I'm certainly impressed by the room for experimentation and freedom of speech and artistry in other parts of the world. 

By the looks of the trailer, not much can be shown without rating it XXX so, hats off to Mr. Miike for not giving 2 flying fucks about what he puts on film to entertain. Kudos!!!
