Omnivores (Omnivoros): Are You Going To Eat That???!!!:

"MARCOS VELA is a prestigious gastronomic journalist who accepts the request of an independent publisher to write an article on the recent emergence of the Clandestine Restaurants..." ~ Omnivores (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "Eat first before you watch this culinary gore fest of a film. Touching everyone's nerve with the idea of an underground eating ring that enjoys to dine on, well, YOU.

Marcos is an established foodie writer who takes on a special writing project based on clandestine restaurants as mentioned above. What he didn't realize is the unconventional process in which they take to gather their goods.

He then meets a beautiful woman who guides him through intense relations and after experiencing a show based on wild eating habits and techniques he is now ready for the next step which leads him to dinner of a weird kind. Everything from that point on is not for the queasy at all.

Without giving too much, understand that this is a very tight knit organization that is almost impossible to escape so, after he indulges in what is the ultimate taboo, he comes up with a plan to fix the problem. Definitely a test of gore tolerance in this one. Very well executed nice ending."

2013/USA/UR/Horror

"A young woman studying the habits of webcam chat users from the apparent safety of her apartment witnesses a brutal murder online and is quickly immersed in a nightmare in which she and her loved ones are targeted for the same grisly fate as the first victim." ~ The Den (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "Film is full with twists and turns with an ending that was unexpected and well thought out. I noticed a few reviews where some people weren't satisfied with the way this first person, live feed horror was executed but for a directorial debut- this was great!

ElizabethB is doing a study for her college that will require her to spend her waking moments on a website called The Den, where randoms are connected for chat and you never really know what you're going to get.

While working with her professors and friends on her thesis, she begins to run into some strange characters that immediately begin to raise eyebrows but as long as you're behind the screen- you're safe right? RIGHT?

Well, let's just say the people around her are slowly but surely getting hacked (no pun intended) and she starts experiencing a serious stalker issue after viewing what she believes to be a young girl getting murdered on live feed. She tries to get cops involved but the internet proves to be one big wide free ride of deviance and full of crazies.

This gave me Megan Is Missing (peep the review) for the most part but the outcome made this film one hell of an entertaining and questionable movie. At the end, I couldn't help but repeat that I liked that! It was entertaining and I know you guys would enjoy on a late night."

Maniac: More Mommy Issues w/ a Great POV!:

2012/France/R/Horror

"As he helps a young artist with her upcoming exhibition, the owner of a mannequin shop's deadly, suppressed desires come to the surface." ~ Maniac (2012

HQ Thoughts: "I love remakes that goes further than the previous film attempted. 1980's Maniac original was a gore fest, as it should have been- it was the time when gore was on the come up. The story line was irrelevant to the idea of someones' head getting blown off.

In this rendition, Frank meets Anna and the concept remains the same (he is enamored, starts to flashback about skanky mom and goes off the deep end eventually) but here you get an in depth look from his perspective. No really, it's like looking through his eyes for the majority of the film.

Premise doesn't change, he scalps women as an homage paid to a slutty mother and the inability to love, but this is so much more endearing that you somewhat feel really bad for Frank.

The film wasn't as horrible as some made it out to seem, this film is banned for release in New Zealand. I think it's a great watch, great perspective as mentioned before and needless to say, Mr. Wood did an awesome job here."
