HQ Thoughts: "I love remakes that goes further than the previous film attempted. 1980's Maniac original was a gore fest, as it should have been- it was the time when gore was on the come up. The story line was irrelevant to the idea of someones' head getting blown off.

In this rendition, Frank meets Anna and the concept remains the same (he is enamored, starts to flashback about skanky mom and goes off the deep end eventually) but here you get an in depth look from his perspective. No really, it's like looking through his eyes for the majority of the film.

Premise doesn't change, he scalps women as an homage paid to a slutty mother and the inability to love, but this is so much more endearing that you somewhat feel really bad for Frank. 

The film wasn't as horrible as some made it out to seem, this film is banned for release in New Zealand. I think it's a great watch, great perspective as mentioned before and needless to say, Mr. Wood did an awesome job here."

HQ Thoughts: "I watched this because I needed to see first hand the "J. Lawrence" craze that is happening all across Hollywood.... I refuse to watch Hunger Games, so this was the next best thing. Not a bad movie, caught me off guard at the end, therefore I call this a success. 

Elissa and her mom move to a quiet wooded area (no shit) and find out that the house at the end of the street was the site of a double murder at the hands of the daughter who is no longer around.

Elissa finds out that the only surviving member of the family lives in the house and is a recluse (right). She manages to break him in and they start out as friends until her mom starts to have conniption fits about their relationship. Rightfully so.

Things turn all bad when you start to wonder where the relationship and this guy's temper is going. Watched it once, wasn't disappointed."

HQ Thoughts: "Also known as "A l'interieur", this film goes to every length to make it as uneasy and uncomfortable as possible while trying to make it through.

Never have I witnessed a movie as such, involving women. This is extremely violent, brutal and simply vicious- NONSTOP! Society has always had a thing for 'protecting' pregnant women, and if you are 1 of those sensitive folks.. This movie is NOT for you. 

Having been in a car accident that kills her husband during her pregnancy, Sarah goes through a serious battle of depression and is trying to take it as easy as possible before the birth of her baby. Things take a bad turn almost immediately after she gets a knock at the door only to find a woman (The Woman) is at her door. 

The brutality was a hard one to sit through because I just had a baby myself, HOWEVER I am a tough cookie and this movie has NO fucking happy endings in sight!!! Again, the lengths to which The Woman goes to get her form of vengeance is relentless and I definitely wasn't expecting the outcome. Gave me the chills! 

Watch it and take it for what it's worth because everyone- the baby, the mom, YOU will suffer. You won't be able to shake the visuals for a while."

HQ Thoughts: "I saw this movie about 10 years ago, watch it here & there when I need that 'cult classic' fix. MAY is one amazing film. Mix between gore, crazy and even a little lesbian action, the girl in question is a social misfit (possibly autistic) whom can't seem to mesh with society. At all. Her BFF is the ugliest doll ever and after she suffers an accident, MAY sets out to establish a new friend til the end. 

She meets a cool guy that she manages to run away with her bizarre actions but that doesn't phase her one bit- it motivates her. Her methods are bold and shocking for such a frail (like) miss. You can't help but feel for her because the movie has a way of keeping you grounded with the character all the way through. I absolutely wanted her to succeed. LOL.

Not taking away from this girl's sick ways one bit, this movie is a MUST WATCH because I don't think it can be done any better than this."

HQ Thoughts: "FYI - THIS IS A RARE NO GORE ALERT!!!

I really wanted to feature this film because it truly does offer another spectrum of what horror can be considered, depending on who you are dealing with. This film doesn't disappoint on a psych-level, pure mind-fuckery that is as original as it is disturbing.

Alexandra is a wife and mother in a typical family that seems happy on the outside but clearly this woman has her own set of issues that are on the verge of eruption in this film. While celebrating her husbands' birthday, she comes up with what she believes is the most thought-provoking gift a man could ever get. 

She sets up a video for hubby, who comes home ready for a surprise party- only to come home to darkness, his TV and the VHS tape. Everything starts off interesting and gets real as things go along. Take note of the drastic change in his demeanor as yours tend to take turns with him.

Let your mind go and get into this film. I'm sure by the end you will be sitting with your mouth hanging open trying to figure out what you just witnessed. Again, no gore but one hell of a psychological horror that I think deserves to make horror film listings."

HQ Thoughts: "This little known film is actually a work of art by Clive Barker with the likes of Brooke Shields and Bradley Cooper gracing the silver screen with their presence... Yadda Yadda. Clive Barker was enough for me. This film is one hell of a gore fest based on a short story from the 1980's from Barker's collection. 

Leon is a freelance photographer that ran across an unfortunate event while riding the subway in NYC. After consulting with the NYPD about the whereabouts of the individual he was looking to help further, he realizes that he is alone on his quest to find out what exactly happened. And that is where he went COMPLETELY WRONG.

The "bad guy" in this film is a real bad ass- and is referred to as "The Butcher". The tools, techniques and originality is something to be expected from a Barker creation. Not to mention that he is capable of getting actual talent to act out these unfortunate souls. Beautiful twist and highly tense. Recommended."

HQ Thoughts: "Well, how can I not add a Tarantino gem to the bunch? Death Proof, originally marketed as a double feature (Grind House) at the theaters back in 2007. The films, intertwine as previous T-flicks tend to do but now, considered to be on it's own, and rightfully so, this is definitely the better of the 2.

It's a tale of a sick, tired and outdated former stuntman (Stuntman Mike) who seeks out women at bars to test his classic ride on. He definitely has his opportunity to show off what he's made of, and it's an extremely original process that caught me off guard and made me cringe with concern and a little tinge of agony. (Kudos!) Yes, I'll keep it just that simple. 

Stuntman Mike, however much later, manages upon 4 beautiful women who are clearly on a vacation road trip of some sort in their own sick lil ride. As the story goes on, you realize they too, are stunt professionals. He is intrigued by their candidness yet oblivious to this tiny important fact that puts him in a vulnerable spot that I think you will want to relive over and over and over again... This movie is brilliantly entertaining!"
