Muoi- The Legend of a Portrait: A Complicated, Deserving Revenge!?:
(Title LINK is English subtitles)
2007/Korean/Vietnam/R/Horror

""Muoi" charts the path of a Korean writer who travels to Vietnam in search of stories for her second novel. There she learns about a mystery centered around a century-old vengeful spirit." ~ Muoi- The Legend of a Portrait (2007)

HQ Thoughts: "One thing I can say about this film is that the story line is EXCELLENT! It drew me in as soon as I turned it on and the concept is a bit of a diversion from the countless other Grudge movies that I've seen in the past, this one actually has a well thought out purpose for a successful revenge which I think this film accomplished.

There are many moments of fright but if you are looking for an all out gorefest, not this time. I'm sure by now reading my site- you see that I am extremely interested in cerebral movies... This didn't disappoint just a tad bit slow at moments.

While trying to capture you in the feelings department for Moui (10 in Vietnamese) you realize that she too, is a scorned woman but from a century ago. She was trapped in an unfinished portrait that was in the works by a love interest who just so happened to be married..... Go figure. His wife found out and voila, you have a pretty cool flick.

As with several others; Muoi was included in my horror-thon for my blogging pleasure and made the cut... Hope you enjoy as well!"

Ju-On: White Ghost (2009)<---- Click Me 4 Movie!!!

"Just Family Issues..."

Ju-On (White Ghost): Grudge Carried Full Circle?!:
(Title LINK is English subtitles)
2009/Japan/R/Horror

"Akane begins seeing visions of a female ghost wearing the same yellow hat and red satchel she wore as a school child." ~ Ju-On: White Ghost (2009)

HQ Thoughts: "As tribute to the Ju-On brand created by Takashi Shimizu, this 1-hr short is the scarier of 2 stories meant to intertwine and come full circle.

As we all know, all Ju-On's are based on grudges that manages to creep back and get it's revenge. This is the story of the Woman in White, it's based on a young woman named Akane who is baffled by the consistent sightings of a little girl who has on the same gear as she did when she was younger.

Starting out in an unnerving fashion (for me at least), the story is super complex for a short; incorporating several different people in the town by showing their (albeit, very minor) connection with the overall concept and the family involved.

Akane starts to assess the impact that these visions have on her and realizes that the little girl is a very, very familiar figure from her past, as each member of the family manages to have a connection with everyone in some fashion.

I enjoyed this immensely, honest scares, very dark and creepy. I like the idea, always did. Loved this."
